LAU Athletics Endowed Scholarship Fund

Former varsity soccer player Ramzi Chabaklo (’01) seeks to empower sports-avid students to become “better human beings in harmony with their passion.” As of February 2023, thanks to his leadership and the contributions of several like-minded alumni-athletes, this aspiration is on track to become a reality.

The LAU Athletics Endowed Scholarship Fund they helped establish will support outstanding current or prospective students recommended every year by the Athletics Department and agreed upon by the fund’s custodians.

Because it is an endowment, it will ensure a lasting stream of income. The money contributed to it will be invested within LAU’s portfolio in the United States. The principal will remain intact, while the annual return will be partly used for financial aid and partly added to the principal to preserve its value over time. This process will provide financial aid to deserving student athletes in perpetuity, for as long as LAU exists.

Looking to the Future

Now that the fund has been established, it is time to make it grow so that it can help more and more students every year.
